Walnut Hills volunteers finished up their service at the COFM Winter Shelter for the Homeless on Wednesday morning, Feb. 2. On Tuesday evening we served 19 guests. Pete Parks’ Class provided the evening meal, with a wonderful macaroni salad, tossed salad, bread, and desserts. In all, the three days seemed to be a very positive experience for both shelter guests and volunteers. This year we filled all of the shifts, and performed all of the tasks, with WHBC volunteers, without having to go to the COFM Volunteer pool from other churches. As needs came up, volunteers came forward to fill vacancies where needed. In the words of Jerry Haywood, we used many of the tools in our tool box, but the Lord always provided. Existing friendships, and relationships, were strengthened, and some new friends were made. Many thanks to all the volunteers who made this possible, and to the Lord, who brought us all together.
Some photos from the last day are attached.
